About Us
Japan Youth Platform for Sustainability
JYPS is a “space” that allows for the collection and the delivery of the voices of Japanese youth to the Japanese government, United Nation (UN) agencies and other civil societies towards the discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the UN in 2015, and on the creation of various other UN frameworks. We do not have a representative and we are here to realize the voices of youth from various backgrounds in the form of youth advocacy under the elected secretary and secretariat through campaigns, events, and article publication. Any individual under the age of 30, organizations consisting of such individuals, and organizations working with people under the age of 30, may participate.
Our Role as a platform =
the place of advocacy for changing society
International・United Nations Conference
JYPS provides access for Japanese youth groups and individuals to participate in various conferences and their preparatory meetings, mainly on sustainable development. The purpose is not actually participating in the conference, but through its participation, we aim to influence the process of international policy formation and realize a more desirable society.
Policy Proposal・Amendment
In order to be the voice of the youth in Japan, policymaking must be done in a democratic manner. What is announced and issued as JYPS is open and anyone can chime in. Are you interested in the UN-related / international politics and policies in your own organization or your own field of expertise (immigration, refugees, environment, education, etc)?
Campaign
In order to make policy proposals, people's support for the proposal must be gathered. Even if the proposal becomes part of the policy, it doesn't make any changes unless it is implemented. It is also an important role for advocacy to disseminate what kind of proposals are being made, the policies of the Japanese government and the United Nations, and to involve people in policy proposals.
